Training & Safety Manager

ProLift Toyota Material Handling is searching for a Training and Safety Manager who will oversee technical training for ProLift Technicians as well as develop and execute safety and environmental programs according to legal guidelines. The position will design policies that establish a culture of behavior based safety and support ProLift as an exceptional place to work.  Successful Training and Safety Manager will work with all Customer Service Centers to maximize the Training and Safety needs with the goal of becoming an “Indispensable Partner”.

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

TRAINING:

  • Coach, develop, and inspire a team of technical trainers
  • Provide oversight and input into technical training materials and guides
  • Collaborate with Sales to review customer operator training information, scheduling, etc.
  • Oversee and track progression of each ProLift Technician through levels of technical competency and skills achievement via ProLift’s Technician Career Path Program

SAFETY and ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Strategically design and lead ProLift’s commitment to maintaining a “Culture of Safety”
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding occupational safety and environmental standards
  • Assist in the investigations of all internal and external incidents and injuries using a proven problem-solving methodology such as 5 Why, 8D, Fishbone, or DMAIC
  • Analyze incident data to determine short term and systemic countermeasures
  • Effectively facilitate monthly Corporate Safety Team meetings
  • Track and analyze incidence data related to near misses, injuries, lost time injuries, and vehicle incidents creating meaningful visuals illustrating trends and patterns
  • Create and update safety materials (i.e. ProLift Environmental, Health, and Safety manual)
  • Manage OSHA 300 log and 300A summary
  • Calculate and report monthly and annual metrics related to safety performance
  • Assist in workers compensation issues as needed
  • Provide professional and timely responses to all customer safety requests and questionnaires
  • Train personnel on and support incident investigations at Customer Service Centers
  • Provide sound direction and guidance to all departments on all OSHA related subjects
  • Conduct formal semi-annual safety and environmental inspections at all ProLift locations
  • Ensure all mandatory OSHA annual training is completed and documented
  • Assist in ASEC and 5S related projects.
  • Source or develop safety training and materials as needed
  • Manage customer service initiatives (Used Voice of the Customer and Loyalty Guarantee) Promote ProLift’s philosophies, vision, strategies, and value of “Doing the Right Thing”
  • TLM “’Toyota Lean Management” philosophy
  • Protects organizations values by keeping information confidential and ability to handle sensitive information

Education/Job Requirements:

  • BA degree in safety management, occupational safety or related area
  • 5-7 years of experience in a multi-site manufacturing, distribution, or service environment
  • Good mechanical aptitude and background
  • Previous supervision experience (managing performance reviews, coaching and development of direct reports, measuring work)
  • Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and functional competencies related to training and safety
  • Ability to create a compelling vision for training and safety and communicate it to the ProLift workforce
  • Ability to write formal Standard Operating Processes and manage systems
  • Exceptional communication skills and commitment to superior customer service both internally and externally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Working Conditions and Abilities (including but not limited to):

  • Some work around exhaust fumes, gas, diesel, solvents, paint, thinners, etc.
  • Working around noisy conditions in shop –air tools, compressors, truck lift, engines
  • Must be able to drive a car and operate forklifts
  • Must have a forklift operator license
  • Occasional travel required to ProLift Customer Service Center (CSC’s) & customer locations when needed
  • Lift objects up to 50 lbs. – occasionally
  • Lift light objects frequently
  • Push/pull objects up to 50 lbs. – occasionally
  • Walk up and down the stairs frequently
  • Perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking, etc. constantly
  • Perform gross body coordination such as walking, bending, stooping
